To select Regional teams, each Region must organize Regional tryouts. The weekend of June 7th & 8th has been set aside for Regions to help organize tryouts. No conflicting OVA 16U events/programs will take place this weekend. (NOTE: Regions can use other weekends that fit best for the Region)

Dates & Location
The 2008 Regional Team Training Centre will run from Monday, July 14 to Thursday, July 17, 2008 (MALE) and Monday July 21 to 24, 2008 (FEMALE) at Humber College North Campus. Accommodation, meals and training take place at the Humber College.

Team Selection/ Regional Tryouts
Regions get to choose teams as follows:

• Region 1: 1 male - 1 female team
• Region 2: 1 male - 1 female team
• Region 3: 2 male - 2 female teams
• Region 4: 1 male - 2 female teams
• Region 5: 2 male - 2 female teams
• Region 6: 1 male - 2 female teams

Teams must be selected by June 4, 2008. Regions with multiple teams may split the teams any way they wish. Regions may bring 12 athletes to the Training Centre.

Selection of Coaching Staff and Chaperones
Regions may select one Head Coach and one Assistant Coach for each team. At a minimum, the Head Coaches should have NCCP Level 2 Theory and Technical courses completed. Assistant Coaches should be NCCP Level 1 fully certified. The OVA will cover the cost of Coaching Staff’s accommodation and meals, and provide them with honorariums.

The Head Coaches must be selected by June 15, 2008.

Regions must also provide each team with a Chaperone. Chaperoning duties include bed checks, wake-up calls and general supervision outside of training hours. From a risk management perspective male Chaperones cannot accompany female athletes in their residence rooms. Therefore we advise that Regions with no females on their Coaching Staff recruit a female chaperone.

If a Region does not supply a female chaperone for their females’ team(s) by June 30th, the OVA will recruit one for your Region at a cost of $375.

If Regions would like to bring other leaders such as coaches, managers etc. to the Training Centre, this can be done at the Regions’ expense. Registration Fees and Process
The cost of the Regional Team Training Centre and Regional Games/Ontario Summer Games is $600 plus GST per athlete payable at the time of registration.  This includes 4 days of training, 3 night accomodations, 4 days of meals, Ontario Summer Games registration (accomodations, meals, tournament), etc.
